Treatments are tailored to your goals, including; pain relief, recovery, stress regulation, mobility, or maintenance. Your therapist will include assessment, targeted soft-tissue work, education, and a plan to help you feel progress between visits.

Why we offer “Swedish” and “Deep Tissue" treatment options
They’re both Registered Massage Therapy and covered by insurance, but they feel different—and they suit different needs.

Swedish Massage is generally lighter and more flowing. It’s ideal for relaxation, stress reduction, general tension, circulation support, and sleep.

Deep Tissue Massage is slower and more focused, with firmer pressure aimed at deeper layers and stubborn tension/trigger points to improve mobility and reduce persistent discomfort.

We distinguish between them so you can book the style of pressure and intent that matches what you’re looking for. Either way, your therapist will customize the session and adjust pressure throughout, so it’s the right fit for your body, that day.

Swedish Massage Therapy

A Swedish Massage uses lighter pressure than a Deep Tissue treatment. Your RMT will use smooth, flowing techniques to calm your nervous system and ease general muscle tension. Massage Therapy + Cupping/IASTM

Cupping Therapy is a soft-tissue technique that uses gentle suction to lift the skin and underlying tissues. Cupping Therapy is a soft-tissue technique that uses gentle suction to lift the skin and underlying tissues. At MYO, we use cupping to reduce tension, improve mobility, support circulation, and help decompress areas that feel “stuck” or restricted.

Cups may be glided over the skin for a broad release, or left in place briefly for more focused work. Cupping can feel like a strong pulling or stretching sensation—intense, but it should remain within your tolerance. Your therapist will adjust suction and technique based on your comfort and goals.

What to expect

* A pulling sensation (not sharp pain)
* Immediate looseness or increased range of motion
* Temporary circular marks are common and normal (they are not bruises from injury; they’re a skin response to suction)

When we modify or avoid these techniques:

Your therapist may adjust or skip cupping over areas with irritated skin, active rashes, open wounds, recent sunburn, or when your health history suggests a more cautious approach.

IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization AKA Gua Sha) is a targeted technique that uses a smooth tool to glide along the skin over tight or overworked tissues. At MYO, we use it to improve tissue mobility, reduce muscle tension, and help “unstick” areas that feel dense, guarded, or stubbornly restricted.

This technique is especially useful for chronic tension patterns, repetitive strain, and areas that don’t respond well to hands-only work (common zones: neck/upper back, shoulders, forearms, hips, calves, and feet). Your therapist will adjust pressure and pacing to your comfort and goals.

What it can help with:

* Muscle tightness and protective guarding
* Trigger points and dense “stuck” tissue
* Mobility restrictions and limited range of motion
* Overuse/repetitive strain recovery support

What it feels like

A firm, warming pressure—sometimes tender in tight areas—but it should stay within your tolerance. We’ll check in often and adjust.

What to expect afterward:
Redness is common and normal. Occasionally, light marking can occur, depending on your tissue sensitivity and the technique used. This typically fades within a few days.

This treatment is ideal for athletes and active clients who want support with pre-event prep or post-event recovery. Sports Therapy Massage is goal-driven bodywork designed to enhance performance, speed up recovery, and reduce injury risk.

Training and competition put repetitive, high demand stress on the body. In a Sports Therapy session, your therapist focuses on what your sport is asking of you, helping to reduce joint and muscle pain, release stubborn tension, support circulation, and calm inflammation and post-exertion soreness.

Techniques are sport-specific and tailored to your patterns and deficits (the areas that consistently tighten, overload, or compensate).

Pre-event treatments are typically more stimulating and fast-paced to prime your tissues and movement.

Post-event treatments are slower and recovery-focused to help your body downshift, decompress, and restore mobility.

As always, we’ll work within your tolerance and adjust pressure and approach throughout the session.

Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST)

Fascial Stretch Therapy is a fully guided, table-based stretch treatment designed to improve mobility, reduce stiffness, and help your body move with less effort. The easiest way to picture it: it’s like yoga on a treatment table, without you doing the work.

FST is ideal if you feel tight, limited in specific movements, or stuck in certain areas (hips, low back, shoulders, calves, etc.).

Sessions are customized to your goals and comfort level, and we work within your tolerance the entire time.

* Stress reduction and sleep support

What to expect
* A calm, gentle-to-moderate pressure approach (deeper work only where appropriate and comfortable)

Important note
Please share any pregnancy-related medical considerations (high blood pressure, preeclampsia concerns, clotting history, placenta-related conditions, current complications, or anything your provider has flagged). If you’ve been advised to avoid massage, we’ll defer treatment until you’re cleared.

A mastectomy is surgery that removes breast tissue, sometimes along with lymph nodes. It can be part of breast-cancer treatment or prevention. Recovery can involve tightness, swelling, scar sensitivity, and reduced shoulder or chest mobility, especially through the front of the chest and underarm region.

Post-mastectomy massage therapy can support your recovery by helping to:
* Reduce pain and protective muscle tension
* Improve range of motion through the shoulder, chest, and upper back
* Support scar mobility and tissue glide as healing allows
* Decrease swelling and heaviness (including lymphedema-related symptoms)
* Restore comfort with daily movement and posture

When to book
In many cases, people wait 4–6 weeks after surgery before beginning hands-on treatment, but timing depends on your specific procedure and healing progress. Medical clearance from your surgeon or healthcare provider is required before treatment.

What to expect at MYO
Your appointment is paced conservatively and tailored to your stage of healing. We focus on gentle, evidence-informed techniques and clear at-home guidance to help you regain comfortable movement over time. If lymphedema risk or lymph node removal is part of your history, we will adapt the plan accordingly and coordinate with your care team when appropriate.

Our therapists offering post-mastectomy/breast-care massage have completed additional training in this area.
